New Classes
March 24, 2008 on 7:33 pm | In Knitting | No CommentsIve got some new classes scheduled for Spring that I am really excited about. Both utilize free patterns online, which drastically reduces the cost of taking classes. The first one, the Robins Egg Blue Hat. is the cutest hat ever. I want to make one in every color. I think its the button. This class is on May 31st so call Pacific Fabrics to sign up.

The other class is the cami that is pictured in my last post. Its the Razor Cami and it is a two part class. Its more of an intermediate class and you will need to be feeling industrious. Its not a difficult pattern but you will need to knit outside of class in order to finish the project. Anyways, It is scheduled for June 7th and 14th.
Other projects in the works are: The Blue Sky Alpaca Eyelet Cardigan. I am a turkey and keep running out of yarn. I have to order it online because no on carries this color anymore. Anyways, this cardigan turned kinda expensive.
I also purchased a bunch of materials for the Berocco Salem Afghan that just came out. I dont crochet but I figure i can learn. I’ll let you know how that goes. Anyone interested in a knowledge swap? I teach you to knit and you teach me to crochet?

Lacy Skirt and Razor Cami-YAY!
February 1, 2008 on 6:51 am | In Knitting | No CommentsSo I finally finished the lacy skirt with bows from Greetings from the Knit Cafe by Kat Coyle. Wonderful skirt. Makes me look a little hippy, but it makes sense. I have hips… AND I have been rewarding myself for so much work and so much schoolwork with burgers and fries! I wanted to finish this skirt forever. Im gonna change out the ribbon because I dont like what I had here at home but I wanted to get the pics up.
The razor cami pattern in the pics below is FREE online. I love it! It takes a bit longer on size four needles but was well worth the time because I think Im gonna get some mileage out of it.

So in this year, I am learning to sew. The gauntlet has been thrown down. Mostly what happened is that i wandered into Nancy’s Sewing basket in Queen Anne and became completely inspired. As these things go, the first skirt I made does not actually *appear* to be a product of this profound inspiration. Here is a picture of it (Despite the fact that I put lip liner on for this picture my head still looks bad, I know):
I am not saying its terrible, but its not really what I had envisioned. Plus there were some technical difficulties with the sewing machine. Like the thread would break every two seconds and I would have to rethread the whole machine. Its hard to stay inspired in those moments.

On the needles I have the Kat Coyle Lacy Skirt with bows. It’s a beauty. If I weren’t so lazy I would create a link to the picture but you should really google it. I have on order my Perl Grey Imogen sweater which I am overjoyed for, again….lazy….google it. I cant wait to get it and knit it up.
You know what else? Im engaged! To a man. MY boyfriend in fact. He asked me on the day before Christmas Eve. I was bowled over. So as you can see 2008 is the best year ever!

Boyfriend Beanie Hat
November 26, 2007 on 7:57 pm | In Knitting | 1 CommentMy boyfriend had a cold head yesterday and I felt ashamed. I knit constantly and have NEVER made anything for him. Why? Well because he has kind of particular tastes for one thing. He likes guy stuff. So we perused the internet together and came up with this hat. He wanted it in black so here it is.
I also have added some new information about classes, so click on the ‘classes’ page above to learn whats new!

I am also posting some pics of an amazing knitter, Toi. She has been knitting some beautiful stuff lately, including a gorgeous red sweater coat that I covet. Hopefully i can get some pics of that too in the future.

Updates
October 15, 2007 on 5:10 pm | In Knitting, Knitting stores, Gloves, Yarn | No CommentsSo its been a while since I have blogged, I have been extremely busy. I taught a beginning class at Pacific Fabrics last weekend and it went really well. Go sign up for my flower hat class! We worked fingerless mitts and they all looked really good. So good, in fact, that i was forced to buy the same yarn another student had so I could duplicate her mitts. I am working on Christmas presents lately and have been working alot of smaller projects.
I am also recently employed at Hilltop Yarn where i am already learning alot. They have really cool patterns designed by current and former employees, and you cannot find them anywhere else. Other than the knitting front, I am just adjusting to starting two part time jobs and trying to go to school full time. It is getting a little easier, thankfully, so I will definately be blogging more. Stay tuned!
Free Pattern
September 8, 2007 on 5:10 pm | In Knitting, Sweaters, Patterns | No CommentsMy sister and I love these little sweater vests, so i decided to make one and post the pattern here on the site. It looks really small but if you follow the instructions it will stretch to fit a sizes 6-9. Add extra length if you want it longer or adjust the size for it to fit you. You can add a flower or some buttons or just wear it plain. Have a look!
Other than that, things have been pretty slow on the knitting front lately. I have been really busy, and am going through alot of transition lately. I hope to have more projects to post in the near future though, so stay tuned.
Finished Gloves!
August 19, 2007 on 5:09 pm | In Knitting, Instruction, Gloves | No CommentsI love these gloves. I changed the pattern so many times, but I think I’ve finally perfected it…
If you are interested in buying some please let me know by emailing me through my contact page. I am selling them for 50$ each and can knit them in any color! They would be a great gift for a friend or family member. I am currently doing some pink ones with a brown wrist band that I will post pics of as soon as I get them. We are going out of town for the weekend, so maybe I’ll have time to finish them on the road.
In other news I am going to be teaching a class at Pacific Fabrics in Northgate in the Fall (November/December) which is going to be really fun! I already picked the pattern for it, its going to be a hat, scarf and gloves set, and it is really cute. I didnt realize it until I went there last week, but Pacific Fabrics has alot of knitting stuff. Check it out if you are ever in Northgate.
Finished Project!
July 29, 2007 on 5:07 pm | In Knitting | No CommentsFinally finished this sweater. It began as the Airy Wrap Around Lace Sweater in Fitted Knits. After knitting that sweater, I found that I wasnt as enamored with the ‘wrap sweater’ concept as I originally thought I was. So this sweater morphed into a cardigan and now I really like it. I wore it to the store to buy a button for it, and a lady stopped me and told me she really liked it. Can you beleive it? It’s first public debut, and it already has a fan?!
WFP
July 9, 2007 on 5:05 pm | In Helping | No CommentsMy sister visited me this weekend to bring my birthday present over. Its something that took six weeks and I was on pins and needles wondering the whole time what it could possibly be, because she said “It gives back to the community”. It turned out to be really cool. Its this bag: www.feedprojects.org. I can carry my knitting or whatever in…actually Im probably going to use it as my grocery bag from now one because i have been feeling guilty about accepting the plastics from the store lately. BUT the other good thing about this bag is that it feeds one child school lunches for a whole year in a developing country. This motivates families to sign their children up for school and also ensures that one child will be fed and educated. Smart full kids are a good thing…so check into this cool program!
In knitting news, the gloves are coming along. Again…I wish I had a camera…
